All of us have moved to Panama seeking to have a better lifestyle, seeking to enjoy a piece of this paradise, seeking to enjoy our life even more or just seeking a business opportunity. Many reasons motivated us to make that decision. One of my favorites is the gorgeous weather and the natural beauty. If you come to Boquete or Bocas del Toro, open your senses and feel the delicate wind, look at the bright blue sky and feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.
Over here you never have to scrape ice off your car, you can find miles of unspoiled beaches, beautiful mountain highlands, exotic rainforests. Of course people are gentle and kind, health care is modern and affordable, and with your money you can do things that you could never dreamt of doing with your money back in Canada, the States, or Europe. The costs of living are a joke compared to your countries and everything just gives you a nice sense of freedom.
And of course, this is not a dream, it is real life... everything has its tradeoffs: I am sorry to say that we have met several people who have been ripped of with real estate or construction, people who have got very frustrated because of the bureaucracy of our government, and although we are a country of services, sometimes you'll find that the level of services does not meet the standards you were used to in your country.
So, I invite you to think about something. Considering these benefits, and tradeoffs, what could you do to enjoy those benefits even more, and do something about those tradeoffs? At Habla Ya Language Center we truly believe that learning the language of your new country, that learning Spanish will put you in a position to make your new life much better, much richer.
You can go around a not learn the language, that's an option, but if you learn Spanish, you'll quickly find life much more exciting. I mean the real world is right outside your door and by speaking Spanish to trades people, builders, to real estate agents or utility companies you'll get faster and superior service, you'll be in a better position to negotiate if things go wrong, or even better it will be easier to see if things are going wrong and you'll just avoid certain people or situations. It also opens the doors to endless new friendships and a deeper understanding of the Panamanian culture.
Spanish will make your life better, and keeping your minds busy will prevent Alzheimer =).
