Everyone knows that being bilingual opens doors. With an approximate 440 million people in the world speaking Spanish that makes Spanish the second-most spoken language in the world (in terms of native Spanish speakers).
And being that children are known to retain information and learn new things easily, why not have them start their journey to becoming bilingual early on? As a child taught, second language Spanish speaker myself, I found it much more rewarding and easier to learn the language at an early age (children actually "acquire a language" as opposed to "learning it"). Now, as an adult, I thank my parents daily for providing me with this opportunity: the opportunity to travel and live abroad with ease because of my knowledge of the Spanish language. Although knowing and speaking Spanish has made my travel experience that much more easier over the years, there are also other life experiences where Spanish has shown to be very beneficial as well.
By the show of hands, how many people have felt like they missed out on a job opportunity due to the lack of knowing Spanish?... Thank you. Now, raise your hand if you would want your child to experience that feeling. Even though this is a virtual setting, I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that nobody raised their hand for the latter, and rightfully so. Nobody wants their child to experience the same sufferings and hardships that they themselves had to endure, especially if they can prevent it from happening.
With the world becoming more connected by technology and the demand for multilingual speakers skyrocketing, it’s an obvious decision to want to make sure your child is prepared for the future. As I stated previously, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world and with that we can conclude that the need for Spanish speakers in the professional realm will only rise with time.
Therefore, the time is NOW to get your child prepared for the inevitable. Specialized Spanish lessons for kids will help ensure that your child has an opportunity in the future, professionally and intellectually, in any field of work. Even though Spanish will help ensure job security for your child in the near future, the aspect of being a general well rounded person is essential as well.
Being a well rounded person is something I believe most, if not all, parents want their child to be. By learning a new language at an early age, such as Spanish, it helps children communicate effectively with the world around them. Also, by learning this new language and becoming knowledgeable of the different cultures that come with it, it’ll definitely help abundantly with gaining friendships with other children from different cultural backgrounds. Additionally, it makes them more aware of the world we live in today. The knowledge of a second (or third) language opens their curiosity to other cultures that are associated with the language and thus making your child a more well-rounded person in the long run.
Besides providing your child with an open mind and well-rounded personality, by having your child learn a second language, it subsequently encourages you to learn the language as well. So instead of burning your holiday budget in an all inclusive resort where you'll drink and eat all day, why not bring your family to Panama, travel the country, discover the culture, experience a memorable vacation AND pick up some fresh language skills?
As you strive to make sure your child is a better person than you are and has access to all of the resources that you may not have had, you can better yourself as well in order to become a better role model. Children look up to their parents and mimic virtually all that they do, and what better way to influence your child than to learn a second language with them? Why not share in the experience and learn Spanish together? By doing so, the benefits are endless! Not only will you both be able to communicate in a new language, but the shared experience and life changing impact you had on your child will be forever. And that, within itself, is a good enough reason to sign up for Spanish lessons now!
