Guys get moving: it's almost that time of the year for the monumental rite of passage known as SPRING BREAK where college students and young adults from all over the world descend to the tropics for some serious beach time and P-A-R-T-Y!
If you're among the smarter ones, take advantage of the opportunity to experience the MOST AMAZING VACATION while combining it with some top-notch Spanish learning! EXACTLY: have the time of your life AND pick up some serious language skills by joining one of Latin America's top rated Spanish vacation programs.
Now, which part of Panama is right for you?
Bocas del Toro
If your goal is to test the resistance of your liver, dance on tables all night and wake up with a random person in your bed the next day, by all means, come to Bocas.
Nightlife is awesome here, and you can read more about each bar/club/restaurant here and here.
Of course you don’t have to be a party animal to love Bocas. You can simply be a beach bum and a nature lover, as Bocas hast the most beautiful tanning, swimming, snorkeling, diving and surf spots in Panama.
Panama City
At night, the word in order is PARTY. You’ll never get bored in Panama City. If clubbing is your thing, Calle Uruguay is the hot spot in Panama City. With the most clubs on one street in the city, you can club hop and get the feel for every type of music your heart desires. From Reggaeton and the Top 40 playlist to Reggae and Dancehall, you won’t be disappointed. Also, if you’re looking for a party to attend during the day, you’re in luck! The Zona de la Rumba has a club called Chill Out and they host day parties that include free drinks and a lot of good jams. Everything from EDM to Panamanian Plena (a Panamanian spin on dancehall music) and more!
My personal favorite party spot is Casco Viejo, the old part of town, which is full of chilled little restaurants and bars, and a great place to meet people.
You can start a conversation with "¿hola, cómo estás?", but if you want to take it to the next level, you should really consider taking a quick Spanish for Travelers Course. Trust me, it really helps!
While you're at it, check out the Hard Rock Hotel and all their amazing theme parties as well as the Panviera Pool Bar at Floor 66 of the Trump Ocean Club.
You can start planning your nights by visiting the PTY life website and doing a full on research about Panama City's best rooftop bars and top spots to go dancing and meat locals.
During the day (depending on the time you wake up!) there are many sites to view. You can take a city tour, visit the Panama Canal, Casco Viejo, the Cinta Costera, Panama La Vieja or spend your day doing some shopping at one of the biggest shopping malls in Latin America: the famous Albrook Mall.
Boquete
Boquete is a place of serenity and relaxation. Translate that into "your liver can recover from location 1 and 2" in Boquete, so it may be worth combining locations and leave Boquete for the end of your stay. If you’re into yoga, spas and meditation, there are plenty of possibilities to get in touch with your inner self. Check out the Haven Spa and YiA Yoga.
Nightlife is limited, but not inexistent (La Cabaña is the only club in town, but only opens on weekends), but it makes up for it with cute little places to eat out, nice little bars such as the Brewery and Taboo.
If you’re an outdoorsy person and would rather take advantage of your days to hike, go rafting, horseback riding, rock climb or zipline, Boquete is the right spot for you.
So, whatever your Spring breaking style is, Panama has something for you!
