It’s quite amazing the number of restaurants in Boquete, and the variety! It’s really not a large town, but it’s become known in the Chiriqui region for it’s excellent restaurants. Not only do Boqueteños and tourists enjoy the selection, but also families and groups from David and even Panama City. The more the merrier!
This is the third and last post in a short series of top restaurants in Boquete (for breakfast restaurants click here and for lunch restaurants click here).
Since Boquete is a haven for expats from around the world, this has led many of them to open restaurants offering their home country’s traditional meals. You will find German, French, Peruvian, Argentinian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian, Gringo and Spanish restaurants. And let’s not forget about the local Panamanian food, which is also very good in Boquete!
With so many choices, sometimes it’s hard to choose when you only have a short time in a town. The first and best advice I can give you is - don’t go to an empty restaurant. It’s empty for a reason, trust me. If you’ve never heard of it and the place is empty, just skip it. There are plenty of better options awaiting you!
Today I share my favorite 5 spots for dinner.
These restaurants were selected based on taste, ambiance, experience and range of choices available. $ means under $10 per plate. $$ means $10 - $15 per plate. $$$ means over $15 per plate.
La Posada Boqueteña
$$/$$$ - This Argentinian restaurant is very popular for a reason - the food is delicious, service is good and ambiance is fabulous. There is live music and dancing on the weekends, so I highly suggest that you go on a Friday or Saturday. Their menu includes many different styles of steak, chicken and fish entreés, pasta, salads.

Black & White
$$ - This is a brand new Spanish restaurant in Boquete. They have a delicious array of tapas and also some entreé meat, fish and salad plates. Though the lighting is way too bright inside (sitting on the front or back patio is recommended), the food is superb and the service is good.

George's Grill
$$ - I always enjoy George’s Grill, which has a Mediterranean menu (the chef and owner, George, is Egyptian). The food is cooked to perfection and the ambiance is relaxed and cozy. The restaurant is very small and rustic, but that’s the beauty of the place. Sit back and enjoy the wood-burning oven, funny servers and typically local expat clientele.

Machu Picchu
$$ - As the name suggests, this is a Peruvian restaurant that even native Peruvians have attested to the great food. They have a HUGE menu which includes their specialty, seafood, as well as chicken and beef dishes. Not for the vegetarian (unless you are pescatarian)! The food is presented beautifully and doesn’t disappoint in traditional Peruvian flavors (garlic, ají/peppers, lemon, etc.).

Il Pianista
$$ - I particularly love Italian food and Il Pianista is the best in Boquete. From a native Sicilian’s kitchen comes a big selection of pastas, pizzas, calzones, and chicken/meat/seafood dishes. Not only is the food very good, but the ambiance is also very rustic and relaxing. There is a beautiful stream running right next to the restaurant, so bring a light jacket and sit on the covered patio for the best dining experience.

There are many other great restaurants in Boquete where you can have an amazing dinner. These are just my personal favorites.
