Boquete has turned into Panama’s true mountain paradise. For those who have passed the backpacker phase, have no fear - here are my personal recommendations of the three best luxury hotels in Boquete to meet and exceed all of your expectations. Whether you are looking for a resort-style community, a comfortable, traditional hotel or a health-focused serene boutique hotel, you will find exactly what you need and more here in Boquete.

I had the opportunity to experience a night in each of these hotels and you will find my viewpoint of each below. I didn't pay for my stays, but all opinions are my own.

As with the rest of our recommended lodging options, if you're studying Spanish at our school in Boquete, you'll get access to discounted rates for extended stays. Click here to see specific rates for these Boquete luxury hotels...

HAVEN HOTEL & SPA

The Haven Hotel & Spa in Boquete, Panama
The Haven Hotel & Spa in Boquete, Panama.

The newest luxury hotel in Boquete, opened in 2011, is also the top-rated hotel in Boquete on Trip Advisor for three years in a row. The Haven Hotel & Spa is nothing short of a perfect hotel experience. With only 9 luxury rooms, you are guaranteed a well-attended stay by the friendly staff.

There are four room types: Garden Suite with king bed and kitchenette (medium refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea maker, blender), Queen Room with queen bed and kitchenette (mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea maker), Twin Room with two twin beds (mini refrigerator, coffee/tea maker), and a Deluxe Room with king bed (mini refrigerator, coffee/tea maker).

The rooms are a bit snug (with the exception of the Garden Suite), but there is plenty of room to store your clothes in a wardrobe and/or dresser. All rooms have air conditioning (not that with Boquete's temperatures you need one) except the Queen Rooms (there is a ceiling fan in all rooms). Wifi is available in all rooms.

All rooms have a private terrace and are furnished with beautiful modern appliances.

The Haven Hotel & Spa is dedicated to providing a full health experience during your stay. They have a complete modern gym with cardio machines, body stations, and free weights. As a hotel guest, you will have access to all of these areas and additionally the jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room.

As their name indicates, they also are a full-service spa offering massage treatments, facials and manicures/pedicures. They only use the finest creams and oils made in the United States (made of high percentages of natural and organic ingredients).

My personal take: The Haven Inn gives you the opportunity to unwind and replenish in their stress-free environment. Whether you are staying for a few days or multiple weeks, it will be hard to leave this secluded paradise.

Garden at Haven Hotel

I loved:

  • The modern touches are of true class and comfort. I especially loved the huge showers with rain showerheads, luxury French bathroom condiments, and extra comfortable mattress pads and down comforter.
  • The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. They speak great English and really want to make sure that you have a great stay.
  • It really is a peaceful, quiet and nature-focused environment where you can hear the creaking frogs in the evening hours by the creeks that run through the property.

Something to note:

  • The closest restaurants and cafes are a 10 - 15 minute walk, with the downtown area about 20 - 25 minutes walking distance from the hotel. It’s advised to take a taxi at night, but taxis don’t run regularly and they increase their prices after dark, too (the hotel can help you find one). The Haven Hotel has plans to add a restaurant, so hopefully that will be soon!

VALLE DEL RIO

An excellent option just 10-15 minutes walking distance from downtown Boquete is Hotel Valle Del Rio. This hotel is one of the largest in Boquete and boasts 26 luxury rooms with modern conveniences. If you like the feel of a comfortable and familiar USA-style hotel, then this is the place for you (and your family! Children are welcome.).

All rooms are spacious, have a balcony with a spectacular view, and are appointed with two queen beds or one king bed. Each room has a large television with cable, a mini-refrigerator stocked with drinks and snacks for purchase, ample wardrobe and dresser space for longer stays, and reliable wifi.

One of the best parts of Valle Del Rio is their on-site restaurant El Paladar. They have a huge menu to please all palates and the quality is some of the best that I have found in Boquete. Whether you are eating breakfast, lunch or dinner here, I have no doubt that you will be fully satisfied.

Also on the premises is a small gym with free weights and cardio machines.

The restaurant has indoor seating next to a large rustic-style bar.

My personal take: A great place to spend a short or long stay in Boquete, Valle Del Rio gives excellent service and invites you to relax in the splendid nature and climate of Boquete. Just enough outside of town to feel peaceful, yet still within walking distance to downtown, you have the option to stay holed up with all of your needs taken care of, or venture out to experience other treasures of Boquete.

I loved:

  • The convenience of the location from town and the spectacular views from Valle Del Rio was the key to making this hotel stand out from the rest if you're studying Spanish at Habla Ya Boquete. Their terrace and patio area by the stream is idyllic.
  • The hotel restaurant, The Paladar, serves delicious fare all day long. Since the restaurant is not as well-known in Boquete, you most likely will be dining with maybe just one or two other tables, guaranteeing fast service.
  • I received excellent service from everyone I met at Valle Del Rio. They have a top-notch team.

VALLE ESCONDIDO

Valle Escondido in Boquete, Panama

For a secluded luxury stay in Boquete, look no further than Valle Escondido. The only gated community in downtown Boquete, Valle Escondido opened in the early 2000’s and includes a 38-room hotel, around 200 private homes and condominiums (some are available for short-term rent), a 9-hole golf course, a community center with large heated salt-water pool and complete gym, professional spa treatments, a beauty salon, a full service restaurant and much much more.

The rooms range from traditional hotel-style (Deluxe) to bungalows (Pueblo, Fairway, Riverside) to suites (Junior and Regular). All are designed with grandeur and comfort in mind. Everything you would expect in a luxury room is accounted for, except for air conditioning and mini-refrigerators. Wifi is also available in all rooms.

As a hotel guest, you will have access to all that Valle Escondido offers to its country club members including the gym, exercise classes, indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzi, racquetball court, tennis court, golf course, beauty salon, sauna, steam room, and spa. Some services come at an extra price, but use of the facilities is free.

My personal take: Valle Escondido is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful nature and weather that Boquete offers. The resort takes care of the details to ensure that you have a comfortable, worry-free stay.

I loved:

  • Walking around the floral-covered grounds, little town and golf course is a wonderful way to start or end the day.
  • Having everything within walking distance from your room is a luxury - restaurant/bar, country club (pool, racquetball, gym), lounge area by the stream, outdoor pool, golf course, tennis court, etc.
  • The community felt very homey with great service from most staff members and cute touches such as wreaths and ornaments on each door.

Something to note:

  • It’s a far walk from the center of town (where other restaurants are if you don’t want to always eat at the resort), maybe 30-40 minutes from the hotel (which is 1500 meters from the front gate). Having a car is the best mode of transportation; otherwise you will have to rely on taxis, which are more sparse in the nighttime hours.
