About the Zip Line System in the Palo Alto Region of Boquete

The zip lining system that has been setup in the Palo Alto region of Boquete is Central America's second longest zip lining tour. Its length is about 3.5 kilometers in total and is divided into twelve different zip line cables allowing you to contemplate the cloud forest's magnificence from thirteen singular stations.

In this zip line tour you will glide in thirteen different occasions from tree trop platforms through the canopy of century-old cloud forests, tree trekking high above the pristine rivers and waterfalls that make up the incredible scenery of natural landscapes bordering the National Park La Amistad and the famous Volcán Barú.

The trees that support the system of cables are all tall, strong and resistant. They will allow you to be suspended between 30 and 60 meters (100 and 200 feet) above ground.

From Monday to Saturday zip line canopy tours start at 9:00 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. On Sundays there is only 1 tour per day and it starts at 10:00 a.m.

What is needed to Zip Line in Boquete?

A harness, an ultra resistant steel cable and gravity are the only elements necessary to stipend and propel the "fearless rider" in this incredible "adrenaline rush". The only thing you need to do is relax and enjoy the ride while observing the fascinating wilderness in the canopy of the forest.

The equipment and the steel cables that you will use, have the capacity to resist many times the weight of a human, no matter what your size. The harness will support up to 2,000 pounds (907 kg) and the cable will support up to 10,000 pounds (4,536 kg).

Who would have thought that a technology utilized hundreds of years ago by our indigenous peoples and later perfected by botanists and naturalists to observe and study the behaviors of wild creatures in their natural habitat, would be transformed into one of the most revered extreme sports?

Zip Line Canopy Tour Safety

Before commencing the journey, Boquete's Tree Trek experienced guides will instruct you in the rules of safety including the behavior that is required to ensure that you and your fellow riders will live the experience to the fullest. You will then be directed to a take off platform from where you will begin a controlled flight to the next platform.

Children older that 6 years of age can participate only when accompanied by a parent or guardian. For safety, we recommend maximum weight of 250 pound for gentleman (113.4 kg) and 200 pounds for ladies (86.2kg), not because the system would not be able to handle it but because the inertia that heavy gliders could gain would make it more difficult for them to break.

Our guides are fully trained to carry out the entire operation and have spent hundred of hours under supervised instruction in order to be given the responsibility to guide a group. No significant accidents have ever occurred at Boquete's Zip Line Canopy Tour.
