At 3,475meters (14,500 feet), the Baru Volcano, is Panama's highest point. The trip to the top of the Volcano, which is no longer active, is an adventure for the fit and reckless only. The hike to the top of the Baru Volcano, back and forth (up and down), makes a total of 27 km. The excursion can be made a camping trip setting up tents, a camp fire and having a nice dinner just before reaching the top, or it can also be completed without dedicating a night to rest.
