Student profile for Private Spanish Lessons: who is One to One Spanish for?
Different types of students can benefit from One to One Spanish lessons.
On one hand there are those who simply need a private Spanish teacher because of their personal circumstances. This might be the case of those who need to develop specific language skills (medical Spanish, Spanish for business, etc.) in the shortest time frame possible or the case of those students who will only be in town for a couple of days.
There may be other students who because of the way they learn, they simply need to pay more attention to a particular area and require the guidance of a private Spanish tutor. Students who have a more difficult time with their conversational or listening skills could also highly benefit from having private Spanish lessons to effectively learn Spanish.
When required we devote plenty of time to take the One to One Spanish Class to the real world and we give our students the opportunity to practice their Spanish in the town of Boquete at local shops, markets, restaurants and many other places where students can interact with other Spanish speakers.

A note to all of those who decide to only have private Spanish lessons: avoid getting too comfortable with your particular Spanish teacher. Students taking private lessons might have it more difficult to practice their Spanish outside of the classroom because they feel shy when talking Spanish with anyone else besides their teacher. They could also get used to their teacher's tone of voice and particular accent or way of talking and become frustrated when they can't understand anyone else besides their own Spanish teacher. This is why we tend to change your teacher every time you complete a Spanish level. This is why it is so important to practice your Spanish outside of the classroom as well. This is why at Habla Ya Panama Spanish School we take the class out of the classroom and make sure that our students effectively practice their Spanish with other people. We cannot stress how important it is to practice your Spanish in the real world.
Advantages of a 1 to 1 Private Spanish Course
The first advantage of having a Spanish teacher for yourself is obvious: you have the teacher just for you, no one else is in the class! This allows the Spanish class to be exactly what you want and what you need it to be. You can focus on your particular needs without worrying about the needs of other classmates.
The environment of a One to One Private Spanish Class can also help students feel more comfortable and more at ease. It may be the element required to boost their confidence and get the student speaking Spanish as fast as possible.
On the other hand 1 to 1 private Spanish lessons do not necessarily have to be taken on their own. They can be taken as a complement to group lessons. Many students decide to have one one one private Spanish lessons as an "add on" to our Group 4 Spanish Course. In this way they can receive the best from both worlds. This is what we call Group 4 PLUS.
When learning the Spanish language there are a whole set of general skills that need to be developed and being in a group can definitively make it easier for certain students. Group Spanish lessons tend to make it easier for students to practice their conversational skills because group classes are more easily made interactive then private Spanish lessons. Feel free to Contact Us if you don't know which is the best Spanish course for you.

In our experience many students benefit more from adding one or two extra hours of private lessons to our standard course of four hours of group lessons per day. In these additional private lessons students can work on those topics or skills that are more difficult for them or that because of their very specialized nature it wouldn't be appropriate to study them in a group simply because the rest of the classmates wouldn't benefit from studying those topics or gaining those skills (such as Medical Spanish Volcabulary, or preparing for the DELE Exam or any other specialized skill or topic that wouldn't be of common interest to the group). The time factor is usually also a very important factor: if you don't have that much time, then a One to One Spanish class will certainly be your best choice.
Class schedule for a One to One Private Spanish Course
Private Spanish lessons can be scheduled in the morning or in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday. You can decide to have between two and six hours of One to One Spanish lessons each day (10 - 30 hours per week). The timeslots available are as follows: 8 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
If you are adding 1 to 1 Spanish lessons to group lessons the schedule of your private lessons will depend on the schedule available for a group of your same level.
One to One evening Spanish classes are also available but special arrangements need to be made. Click here for more information.

The option to select your schedule for private lessons is subject to availability. Priority is given to students taking group lessons because in a group there is more people that can request a specific time and although we always try to please all of our customers, in a group there are simply more students who have the right to request a specific schedule =).

When considering how many of hours to sign up for, take into account that each of our first three levels can be completed in an average of 60 hours of lessons each, our fourth and fifth in 100 hours each, and our sixth level in an average of 400 hours more (to be just like a native). When you join a Total Immersion Program you usually complete each level 10 to 25% faster. We will always make a professional suggestion based on your Spanish level, on how far you want to advance and on how fast you want to get there. To see what you will be able to do upon completing each level you can visit our level system section and if you know some Spanish, please remember to complete our Placement Test.
