Student profile for Private Spanish Lessons

Many Spanish students combine group lessons with private ones

Different types of Spanish students can benefit from private Spanish lessons.

On one hand there are those who simply need a private Spanish teacher because of their personal circumstances. This might be the case of those who need to develop specific language skills (medical Spanish, Spanish for business, etc.) in the shortest time frame possible or the case of those students who will only be in town for a couple of days.

There may be other students who because of the way they learn, they simply need to pay more attention to a particular area and require the guidance of a private Spanish tutor. Students who have a more difficult time with their conversational or listening skills could also highly benefit from having private Spanish lessons to effectively learn Spanish.

Within our private Spanish lessons at Habla Ya Panama Language School we devote plenty of time to take the class to the real world and we give our students the opportunity to practice their Spanish in the town of Boquete at local shops, markets, restaurants and many other places where students can interact with other Spanish speakers.

A note to all of those who decide to only have private lessons: avoid getting too comfortable with your particular Spanish teacher. Students taking private lessons might have it more difficult to practice their Spanish outside of the classroom because they feel shy when talking Spanish with anyone else besides their teacher. They could also get used to their teacher's tone of voice and particular accent or way of talking and become frustrated when they can't understand anyone else besides their own Spanish teacher. This is why it is so important to practice your Spanish outside of the classroom as well. This is why at Habla Ya Panama Spanish School we take the class out of the classroom and make sure that our students effectively practice their Spanish with other people. We cannot stress how important it is to practice your Spanish in the real world.

Advantages of a 1 on 1 Private Spanish Course

The advantages of private Spanish lessons have to be viewed in a specific context and you have to plan to avoid its dangeours

The first advantage of having a Spanish teacher for yourself is obvious: you have the teacher just for you, no one else is in the class! This allows the Spanish class to be exactly what you want and what you need it to be. You can focus on your particular needs without worrying about the needs of other classmates.

The environment of a one on one private Spanish course can also help students feel more comfortable and more at ease. It may be the element required to boost their confidence and get the student speaking Spanish as fast as possible.

On the other hand 1 on 1 private Spanish lessons do not necessarily have to be taken on their own. They can be taken as a complement to group lessons. Many students decide to have one one one private Spanish lessons as an add on to our Group 4 Spanish Course. In this way they can receive the best from both worlds. This is what we call Group 4 PLUS.

When learning the Spanish language there are a whole set of general skills that need to be developed and being in a group can definitively make it easier for certain students. In group lessons it tends to be easier for students to practice their conversational skills because group classes are more interactive and dynamic then private lessons. Feel free to contact us if you don't know which is the best Spanish course for you.

In our experience many students benefit more from adding one or two extra hours of private lessons to our standard program of four hours of group lessons per day. In these additional private lessons students can work on those topics or skills that are more difficult for them or that because of their very specialized nature it wouldn't be appropriate to study them in a group simply because the rest of the classmates wouldn't benefit from studying those topics or gaining those skills (such as Medical Spanish Volcabulary, or preparing for the DELE Exam or any other specialized skill or topic that wouldn't be of common interest to the group).

Class schedule for a One on One Private Spanish Course

One on One Private lessons can be scheduled in the morning or afternoon

Private Spanish lessons can be scheduled in the morning or in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday. You can decide to have between two and six hours of one on one Spanish lessons each day (10 - 30 hours per week). The timeslots available are as follows: 8 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If you are adding 1 on 1 Spanish lessons to group lessons the schedule of your private lessons will depend on the schedule available for a group of your same level.

The option to select your schedule for private lessons is subject to availability. Priority is given to students taking group lessons because in a group there is more people that can request a specific time and although we always try to please all of our customers, in a group there are simply more students who have the right to request a specific schedule =).
