Official D.E.L.E Authorities & D.E.L.E. Levels

The Instituto Cervates is the official governmental organization who promotes the Spanish language and is in charge of the DELE Spanish language exams. At Habla Ya Language Center we offer DELE preparation courses for the Certificado Inicial (CIE), Diploma intermedio (DIE) and the most advanced Diploma Superior (DSE).

Be sure to take the D.E.L.E. examination at the appropiate level for you. Each of the 3 exams has 5 parts. The main difference of the 3 exams is the difficulty & time available for each part. If you would like to know the exact contents of each of these 3 levels, please read about our level system and syllabus.

Our levels are built under the guidelines of the Common European Framework for Languages and because of this we know exactly how to help you improve each of the skills you will need to face each part of the DELE exam. All our students hold an interview with our Academic Director and we ask them to complete our Placement Test. In this way we know for sure where you should start and which exam you should take.

Dates, Places & Fees for the D.E.L.E. Exam

The DELE Spanish language exam is arranged twice a year, in May and in November. In some places an additional Spanish test is offered in August. The DELE Spanish language test can be taken in nearly all major Spanish Universities and can also be taken in some countries abroad. To register for the test you will have to fill out a registration form provided by an approved examination center, pay the fee for taking the exam and provide documentation to prove that you are not a citizen in a Spanish speaking country. You will then have to hand in all these documents at an approved examination center about 2 months before the examination date and then you will be provided with documentation that you will have to show on the examination date.

Official registration requirements, exam prices by country, sample examination papers, official dates and examination centers can be looked up at the Institutos Cervantes webpage. There is currently no examination center in Panama where students can take their D.E.L.E. exam. Students pay for their exam elsewhere and prepare for the exam with us because our prices are much more affordable than other countries that offer similar courses. Please contact the Spanish Embassy or Consulate to seek the nearest examination plaza to you.

Start Dates & Course Fees for D.E.L.E. Course

A DELE Exam Preparation Course can be arranged to start whenever you want, but we recommend you to start preparing your exam with at least 2 months of anticipation before your examination date. Please feel free to complete our Placement Test before you sign up for the DELE exam and we will tell you your current Spanish level and help you decide which of the 3 exams you should take.

The amount of Spanish lessons you should purchase depend on your current Spanish level and the level of the exam you intend to take. For example, if your were actually placed at the beginning of Fluent I (C1) and you were looking forward to achieving the DIE (Diploma Intermedio), which is placed at the end of Fluent I (C1), then we would recommend that you signed up for 100 hours of lessons. If you were at the end of Survival II (A2) and you would like to take the CIE (Certificado Inicial), which is intended for those with a Conversational I (B1) level, then we would recommend that you signed up for 60 to 80 hours. Once you complete our Placement Test we will be able to make a recommendation about what you should do.

The amount of hours you will end up purchasing is the exact amount of hours you need to prepare yourself for the D.E.L.E. exam. This is why prices are shown as packages of hours. The packages are per person. Most students will book private lessons because they will be coming on their own. The mini group option is only available if you are coming with a small group of no more than 4 students to prepare for the same DELE exam and all of you have the same Spanish level. You can also sign up for our Group 4 PLUS course and devote the additional private lessons to your DELE studies. In case someone has your same Spanish level and wishes to prepare for the same exam at the same time as you, we will let you know. Normally you will be taking 20 - 30 hours of lessons per week. If you have to purchase an amount of hours that does not appear on the table, you can calculate the cost by using the cost per hour of the package immediately before. The more hours you purchase, the better the price per hour. Prices are in US dollars.

    Note that there is no separate registration fee for our courses. Included in the course fees: registration, level test, class material and handouts, certificates, wifi internet connection at the school, cultural & social activities, all the coffees you can drink and access to all the school's facilities.

    Panamanian National Holidays

    The DELE Exam Preparation Course can be arranged to start on any date except on public holidays. The following Panamanian national holidays are observed by our Spanish school.
