Learn Spanish! The best choice you can make

If you are planning to relocate or retire in Latin America, learn Spanish! It is a must in order to get the most out of your retiring experience and the key to have a more enjoyable life. The real world is right outside your door and by speaking even a little bit of Spanish you will be able to embrace your new life completely. English will allow you to survive but you will get so much more if you can converse in Spanish with local people. It is not true either that everyone speaks English in Panama.

These days many ex-pats are keen to learn Spanish and embrace their new life fully. Never learning Spanish is a bit like missing out on a great slice of the new life they are beginning. By speaking even a small amount of Spanish, you will quickly find life is so much more exciting!

There is an increasingly English-speaking expat community in Panama but you get so much more out of life in a new country if you can converse with local people. It is not true either that everyone speaks English. If you are moving to a new home, speaking Spanish to local trades people, builders, utility companies, or when setting up a business, means you will get superior, faster service and you will be in a better position to negotiate if things go wrong. Knowing the language also opens up endless new friendships, and a deeper understanding of the culture.

If you are moving to a new home or setting up a new business, speaking Spanish to local real estate agents, lawyers, builders, utility companies, means you will get superior, faster service and you will be in a better position to negotiate if things go wrong. Knowing the language also opens doors to endless new friendships, and gives you a deeper understanding of the culture.

Starting Dates

As this course is designed for new local residents, we can start a new group at any time. Only 2 students of the same level are needed to start a group. We continually start Beginner Crash Course Groups almost every other month and we always have groups of other levels starting and going on during every month. Please give us a visit so that we can know your exact Spanish level, complete our online Placement Test or contact us letting us know if you do not know any Spanish and we will get back to you as soon as we have a group available for you.

If you are retiring in Latin America, it is suggested that you at least finish our first 2 levels: Survival I (A1) and Survival II (A2). Many of our students sign up for 60 hours, take the 10 week course and then come back 2 or 3 months later and sign up for another 60 hours to complete a second level.

Crash Course Fees

Each of our 3 first levels can be completed in a 60 hour (10 week) course. This is why students sign up for 2.5 months (60 hours of group lessons). The cost for new local residents remains unchanged from 2007 to 2008. When you sign up for a Part Time Crash Course for New Residents we ask you to commit to finish at least 1 of our levels. This is why most students purchase 60 hours of group lessons throughout 10 weeks, making only 1 payment. If you find it more convenient you can also decide to make 3 payments for 20 hours each, 2 payments for 30 hours each or even make 1 payment to purchase 120 hours and course 2 of our levels paying the best rate per hour of Spanish lesson.

2008 Payment Options

  • 1 payment for 60 hours of group lessons, $500
  • 2 payments for 30 hours of group lessons, $225 each
  • 3 payments for 20 hours of group lessons, $200 each
  • 1 payment for 120 hours (2 levels) of group lessons, $900

  • Included in the course fees: registration, level test, class material and handouts, certificates, wifi internet connection at the school, cultural & social activities, all the coffees you can drink and access to all the school's facilities. Prices are in U.S. Dollars. Note that there is no separate registration fee for our courses.
